It's been a busy few months and it's just about to get busier. I'm heading out next week to Las Vegas to the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) that's held every year in January. I've been to CES a few times and to Comdex more times than I can remember, but this is the first time I'm going to "work the show."
Working the show means we will be video interviewing as many companies as we can fit into our week-long schedule. There will be nine of us divided into two camera crews, including Todd Cochrane from Geek News Central, Andy McCaskey from SDRNews and Jeffrey from Geekazine. Our goal is to find interesting companies and do three to five minute video interviews for each. The interviews will be edited and posted on the internet as fast as we can make it happen. There will also be some streaming video (via Ustream.com) and back-channel videos posted. This will be an interested event because video is beginning to make it's presence on the internet. Leo Laporte with his TWIT network is moving to video and I know Leo and his crew is going to CES to cover the show too. Todd Cochrane sees this shift to video and is gearing up to meet this new demand. Video coverage at CES is just one part of that change. One big unknown is Internet access. I'm sure we won't be the only group covering the show and trying to push media to the web. Between cell phones, twitter/facebook, and streaming video, CES 2010 may bring down the Internet. We do live in interesting (and exciting) times! You can follow what's happening at the Geek News Central website. I will be posting some things on this blog and on my Twitter account: fogview. Let me know if you're going to CES or know of anything that you would like to see us cover. You can email me a myfogview at gmail dot com. 73's and Happy New Years Tom
